T-shirt - Thomas Sankara
An anti-imperialist, pan-Africanist and third-world Burkinabe politician, Thomas Sankara embodied and led the Burkinabe revolution until his assassination during a coup d'état that brought Blaise Compaoré to power. In particular, he changed the name of Upper Volta, a name derived from colonization, to a name derived from African tradition: Burkina Faso, which is a mixture of Moré and Dioula and means country of upright men. He led a policy of freeing the Burkinabe people from imperialism. His government undertook major reforms to combat corruption and improve education, agriculture and the status of women.
